Who We Are At FPCMA We are a vibrant and active part of our community. Our church is part of the Salem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Our members range from newborns to seniors in their 90’s. We represent all walks of life and reside in communities throughout Surry County and surrounding areas. We welcome persons of all races, ages and nationalities. Each of us, from youngest to oldest, humbly work to fulfill that which Jesus Christ has called us to do - to love and serve one another, as Christ first loved and served us.
What Should You Expect When You Join Us At FPCMA Worship here at the corner of Church and Main is traditional, with our focus being the Good News of Jesus Christ, grounded in scripture and the tenets of the Reformed Faith. At the same time we believe that worship, just like the world around us must grow and change, so you will find some non-traditional elements as well. People have asked how they should dress for worship here at FPCMA. Our answer is simple - come in what is comfortable for you. Here at FPCMA you will find people dressed in their Sunday best, while others prefer something more casual. The important thing is we are all gathered here to worship the Living God. You can expect to be welcomed warmly and graciously with hospitality from everyone.
Worship We offer one worship service every Sunday morning: 11:00 am – Noon
Sunday School Classes are offered for adults 9:45 – 10:45 am with a fully staffed Nursery/Child Care during that time.
Nursery A fully staffed nursery, for infants - three years old is available every Sunday during worship.
SPARK Children from 3 years old - 5th grade are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary for a children's time during worship. At the conclusion of the children's time they are invited to attend SPARK - Seeking, Praising, Actively Relating to the King, where they will learn the foundational stories of the Bible and building blocks of the Presbyterian faith. Children return to the sanctuary on communion Sundays, since we believe that all are welcome at the table of God.
Music The music during our 11:00 worship service typically features our adult chancel choir, directed by Legh Beal, Anna Bush and Bob Chilton. One Sunday each month we feature other musically talented members of the FPCMA family as part of our Member Led Music Sunday.
Sermon Every Sunday, through the Pastor's sermons, we encounter God and are challenged us to grow in our love and service to Christ.
Communion We celebrate Communion nine times a year. All Baptized believers are welcome at the Lord's Table.
